Still like manual but if you have to get auto then the DCT is the way to go! My buddy has a manual 135i and my car is just faster. The DCT is just so much more fun to drive and makes shifting so easy and fast. I drove both the regular auto and my DCT and you cannot even compare the two together. I don't understand what you mean? My DCT revs the rpm's when you down shift making it go into gear smoother. It will make the shift's much more crisp and quick.īest answer for me, and the Winner! Thanks! Make sure if you still have the 135i to push the sports button next time you get in. These are just a couple reasons that I could think of off the top of my head. The automatic does not really have a need to do the whole throttle blip due to the way an automatic transmission works. The DCT automatically rev matches when downshifting which sounds pretty incredible once you get a exhaust on the car. Launch Control (although brake torquing 2nd gear pulls seem to be faster with automatics) Automatics although they are much faster than they were a couple years ago still lag a bit when you tap the paddle. Most automatics lose their power and fuel efficiency in the torque converter. Although I must say BMW's new 8-speed ZF auto is more fuel efficient than the DCT. Manuals in general are more fuel efficient than BMW's 6 speed automatics. Automatics are usually around 20%-22% power loss, while DCT and manuals usually stick around 15%. Faster Shifting (actually so fast that you do not loose boost in between shifts)
